Finally got down to read some newspapers after the incessant mugging and furious ( but fruitless ) attempts to complete long overdue wkshts.
A particular newspaper in singapore is getting a little _____. i shall not fill in the word for i might get sued for all I know. Comparing butts ? Love at first sight ? hmm. i guess there MUST BE better things to write abt aint it ? goodness, i was rather disgusted. but then again, what i find ***** may be interesting to other people. but i dunno how many people la.
the hurricane is horrendous. The after effects are like totally horrendous. I totallly feel the frustration and wrath in the hearts of the people in A****** and the other states affected. Their living conditions are like well beyond terrible and i wonder why action hasnt been taken to counter the situation. Actually I don't need to wonder why. I know why.
Thanks to LA lessons. HAHA. yes, i knw what racial discrimination is. AND ITS so prevalent STILL in that place where they call themselves the superpower, the most civilised and democratic and liberal .. okay if theres more, slot it in yourself. In this state where the African-americans make up 70% of the population and with 30% of them living under the poverty line, shouldnt MORE help be put in. I mean yes, hurricanes happen in other states too. but to put it crudely, the people there are more well to do, they have cars, they have backup savings , they have cash to get them out of the state in time. This people in A do not!
And it is totally absurd that Katrina had to be so picky and actually make a whole turn INTO A. of all places A. why not the capital. people in A are already holding on to what little they have. and now they can hold on for they want but they dun have anything. The people that are alive live among the dead and the dead linger around the people who are alive. No matter how they weep, how they wail and how they complain, nothing would come back.
For how many days have the people waddled through corpse infested waters , stay cooped up in filthy and overcrowded holding areas, get physically abused and mentally tormented. For how long have they waited for the one that they had voted for, the one they thought would care for their welfare thru and thru, the one who would keep his word, he never came. Even the mayor had to ask /beg/ plead/ request WHATEVER for help in PERSON. I MEAN, isnt it QUITE DUH that help has to come EVEN WITHOUT ASKING.
a person with senses in tip-top condition couldnt possibly miss this. well , even if you're deaf, you can see. even if you're blind you can hear. the enormity and severity of this cannot be ignored! its impossible.
The rescue efforts were obviously not enough and its OBVIOUS. preparations should have been made long ago SINCE this has already been predicted like 5/6 years ago. why was there no preparation made? I'm not in any position to question the efficiency of the related parties but its not like this hurricane decided that it would appear one day and choose this particular state within one day. It could have been prevented and they knw how! its whether they are willing to or not. nothing can be too difficult if youre willing to do it. No matter how big the expenditure and time, if the welfare of the people at A and the other states were actually taken into consideration. things wouldnt be in this state, people would not mock at ___'s incompetance.
In the midst of such a crisis, a nation should work hand in hand to pull thru and safe their fellow sisters and brothers. such reluctance and hesistance cannot prevail. the world'ssuperpower. :/
